Why will banks remain open on March 31?

The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the Eid holiday on Monday, March 31. RBI has issued a circular regarding this in which it is clearly written that all banks will remain open on March 31 to settle the work related to government transactions.

Bank related work

All banks will remain open on 31st March but banking facilities will not be available for customers. You will be able to get bank related work done on 2nd April 2025. Actually, banking facilities will not be available for customers even on 1st April 2025. However, in some states of India, banks will remain closed on April 1. Banks that were open on March 31 will remain closed on April 1 due to the closing of the financial year.

Where will banks remain closed on April 1?

Due to the closing of the financial year, there will be no bank holiday on Eid, but there will be a bank holiday on April 1. However, banks will remain open on April 1 in select states. Banks will remain open in Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal on April 1 and people here will be able to avail banking facilities.
