To protect farmers’ crops from stray and wild animals, the Rajasthan government has started an important scheme called the Tarbandi Yojana. Under this scheme, farmers get a subsidy of 50% to 70% for fencing their agricultural land. Farmers often face heavy losses due to animals like Nilgai, wild boars, and other stray animals, which affects their hard work and financial condition. To solve this problem, the Rajasthan government launched this scheme to help farmers protect their crops and increase production.

The main aim of the Tarbandi Yojana is to make farming safe and to improve farmers’ income by providing financial help. Let us now know the details of this scheme.

What is Tarbandi Yojana?

Tarbandi Yojana (Rajasthan Tarbandi Yojana) is a financial assistance scheme launched by the government to help farmers protect their crops. Under this scheme, farmers receive a subsidy to fence their agricultural land, safeguarding crops from stray and wild animals.

This scheme is especially beneficial for farmers whose crops are damaged by Nilgai, wild boars, and other animals. By providing fencing, the scheme helps protect the hard work of farmers and prevents crop destruction.

Objectives of the Scheme

  • Protect crops from Nilgai, wild boars, and other stray animals.
  • Ensure farmers receive the full benefit of their hard work.
  • Increase agricultural production through crop protection.
  • Improve the economic stability of farmers.
  • Promote agriculture in rural areas.
  • Help farmers become self-reliant and stabilize their income.

Grants Under the Fencing Scheme

The scheme offers grants in several ways:

  1. Small and Marginal Farmers: 60% subsidy or a maximum of Rs. 48,000 for fencing up to 400 running meters.
  2. General Farmers: 50% subsidy or a maximum of Rs. 40,000 for fencing up to 400 running meters.
  3. Community Application: 70% subsidy or a maximum of Rs. 56,000 for fencing a minimum of 5 hectares of land with a group of 10 or more farmers.
  4. Perimeter-Based Fencing: Grants will be given on a pro-rata basis.

Eligibility for the Fencing Scheme

  • All categories of farmers are eligible for this scheme.
  • The minimum land requirement has been relaxed. Farmers now only need half a hectare (two bighas) of land to qualify for the scheme.
  • In scheduled tribe areas, farmers need at least 0.5 hectares of land.
  • For community applications, the land must be within the designated perimeter.
  • Farmers must be residents of Rajasthan, and their agricultural land must be located in the state.
