Mahindra introduced the Thar Roxx and its initial reception has been excellent. Looking back, what the brand did with the XUV 700, it has now done the same with the Thar range as well, which is now more practical as well as equipped with more features and technology. Here are five such cars you should worry about.

1. Mahindra Thar 3-door

The Thar Roxx could impact the sales of its three-door sibling as it is only Rs 1.6 lakh more expensive, with a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The five-door lifestyle SUV is more spacious, practical, and feature-rich than its three-door counterpart and also makes for a great off-roader. Still, for those who want a more old-school 4×4, the 3-door is a great option.

2. Mahindra Scorpio N

The Mahindra Thar Roxx shares a lot with the Scorpio N, including some off-road gear. The Scorpio N is priced between Rs 13.8 lakh and Rs 24.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and when compared, the Thar Roxx is Rs 1.85 lakh cheaper than the Scorpio N, making it more attractive to customers.

While the Scorpio Ncan be bought with six and seven-seat layouts, the Roxx being more tarmac-friendly could turn some buyers away.

3. Hyundai Creta

The mid-size SUV segment leader, the Hyundai Creta, received a mid-life update earlier this year, helping it consolidate its position at the top in terms of sales.

The arrival of the Thar Roxx could also impact its sales numbers as it attracts a wide range of buyers including family-based customers due to its practicality and spacious nature.

4. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the direct rivals of the Thar Roxx in terms of capabilities. The nameplate, famous in the global markets, has not seen any major growth in sales since its launch in the local market, and in recent times, Maruti Suzuki has been offering heavy discounts as well.

The arrival of the bigger Thar could see sales of this underrated off-road SUV drop even further.

5. Force Gurkha

The five-door Force Gurkha, which was launched in May, is in direct competition with the Thar Roxx, starting at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). However, due to the limited availability of dealerships across the country.

This car is not widely available and the 2.6-litre diesel engine is less performing than the 2.2-litre diesel engine of the Rocks, which will not work in its favour despite its commendable off-road capabilities. The interiors too are not as feature-loaded in comparison. Mahindra Thar.e Concept
