5 New SUVs: Hybrid and electric cars are going to rule the Indian auto market in the coming days. Keeping this in mind, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, along with its partner Toyota, is set to introduce not one or two, but 5 such SUVs. Let’s know about them.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid
At number one on this list is Maruti’s game-changer SUV. Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which made its entry during the Auto Expo in the year 2023, is now going to get a fuel efficient engine. It will have a major mechanical update along with the company’s homegrown HEV technology. It is expected that with the new engine, the Fronx Hybrid will be able to deliver mileage of up to 30 KMPH.
The new Maruti Suzuki Fronx was recently spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time with a hybrid badge. It is expected that along with the new hybrid engine, it will also get cosmetic changes. Apart from this, the new front can get interior updates and advanced features like a sunroof, and 360-degree camera ADAS.
7-seater Grand Vitara/Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Maruti’s best-selling hybrid car Grand Vitara and its derivative Urban Cruiser Hyryder are going to be offered in 7-seater configuration. There will be no mechanical changes in them, while the wheelbase will be extended to fit the third row. Apart from this, the features are also expected to be updated.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara/Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first electric car in the Indian market. The company will offer it in 2 battery pack options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh, which is capable of giving a claimed range of up to 500 km. It has been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025 and the e Vitara will hit the market soon.
Toyota has also introduced the Urban Cruiser EV at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show. It will have the same features and battery pack as the e Vitara. It will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat factory along with the e Vitara. Talking about dimensions, its length is 4285 mm and it comes with a 2700 mm wheelbase.
