During this time, Japanese car company Honda and tech giant Sony have officially launched their first jointly developed electric car ‘Afeela 1’ for sale. This electric car has been awaited for a long time.
In a press conference during the Consumer Electronics Show, Sony Honda Mobility announced that this car has been introduced in two different variants. In this, the starting price of the base variant Afeela 1 Origin has been fixed at $ 89,900 (about Rs 77.15 lakh), and the starting price of the top variant ‘Afeela 1 Signature’ has been fixed at $ 102,900 (about Rs 88.31 lakh). The price of both the cars also includes a 3-year subscription for features. AFEELA 1 is equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Features and Safety
Let us tell you that Sony and Honda have been working on this electric car for a long time and this joint venture has tried its best to make the car state-of-the-art. You can guess this from the fact that it has 18 cameras, 1 LiDAR, 9 radars, 12 ultrasonics, and 40 sensors.
They provide information through 3D and high-quality (HQ) images on the dashboard display to monitor the vehicle from all sides and see the driver. So that the driver can drive safely on the road. The design team has also installed a ‘driver-monitoring camera’. It alerts the driver when he feels sleepy or shows any signs of physical discomfort so that they can be activated immediately and avoid accidents.
Sony Honda Mobility told at the CES 2025 conference that Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an important role in this electric car. AI has been used in this car for parking assistance and intelligent personal assistance. That is, this car can park itself by estimating the situation even on narrow roads or places. Other technologies including 3D Motion Management System have been included in this car.
Cabin and Features
The cabin of this car has also been made smart. In this, each user gets his own display, so two screens have been given behind the driver and front passenger seats for the rear passengers. This car has many smart features, including the AI-operated Afeela personal assistant. This voice-activated assistant allows users to operate many features in the vehicle cabin through integrated technology.
Battery pack and range
Afeela 1 is built on the platform of Honda’s ‘0’ series electric vehicles. It has a dual electric motor system that gives a power output of 482 bhp. Apart from this, equipped with a 91 kWh battery, this electric car is capable of giving a range of 483 km on a single charge. Additionally, its battery supports fast charging up to 150 kW. It can also be charged through Tesla’s Supercharger network.
This car has been introduced in three color options, Tidal Gray, Calm White, and Core Black. This car will be produced in Ohio, USA. It is possible that its delivery will start by the middle of next year.
