Honda and Sony have unveiled the Afeela 1 electric vehicle, marking the inaugural release from their joint venture, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, USA. The Afeela 1 is available in two primary variants, starting at a price of $89,900 (approximately Rs 77 lakh). Currently, bookings are open exclusively for customers in California, with plans to expand sales to global markets, including the US and Japan, starting in 2026.

Afeela 1 specifications

The Afeela 1 appears to share its platform with Honda’s 0 series electric vehicles. This Honda-Sony collaboration features dual electric motors that generate 482 bhp. It is equipped with a 91kWh lithium-ion battery pack, offering a range of up to 483 km on a single charge, and supports fast charging at rates of up to 150kW. Additionally, the vehicle can be charged using Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Attractive features

The Afeela 1 is packed with advanced technology developed by Sony for electric vehicles. It includes an array of cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic sensors that gather data from the environment to ensure a safe driving experience. The vehicle is outfitted with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that utilizes 40 sensors and cameras positioned around the car. It also features all-wheel drive technology and a 3D motion management system. The dimensions of the Afeela 1 are 4,915 mm in length, 1,460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,018 mm, and it rides on 21-inch alloy wheels.

Furthermore, the EV incorporates the AI-based Afeela personal assistant, which operates via voice commands to manage various in-car functions through connected technology. According to the company, “Each passenger can enjoy a variety of apps and content provided by entertainment partners through a customized, unique sound system and seat-mounted display. Sony Honda Mobility’s proprietary noise-canceling technology enhances the overall experience.”
