Soon the dream of air travel is going to come true. You will be able to travel by air taxi from IGI Airport or anywhere else. This was said by PM Modi at the conference of Civil Aviation Ministers in the Asia Pacific region.

PM Modi is constantly saying that the country is getting ready for advanced air transport. PM Modi says that air travel in the country should be available to the common man at safe and affordable rates.

According to PM Modi, ‘After the arrival of air taxis, immense employment opportunities will be created.

In such a situation, let us know when air taxis start in India. How much change will come in the road transport system with its arrival.

If we talk about Delhi-NCR, then 20-25 years ago buses and auto used to be the main means for the common man.

Later the metro came and connected different areas of Delhi-NCR. The metro gradually spread to many big cities of the country like Lucknow, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Patna.

But, now the talk of starting air taxis in the country has started. It is being said that taxi services will start in some cities of the country by the end of this year.

People will forget road transport and metro services

According to media reports, after the start of this service, you can reach Gurugram from Connaught Place in New Delhi in just 7 minutes.

For this, Archer Aviation will provide 200 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. Five people including the pilot will be able to travel in this air taxi.

In the initial phase, the joint venture of Interglobal Aviation and Archer Aviation intends to provide its services in New Delhi as well as Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, the fare for this service can be Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

What is the vision

Consumer and transport expert Sunil Tyagi said in a conversation with News 18 Hindi, ‘Look, PM Modi’s recent statement about air taxi services is very important.

It should be seen as an attempt to further improve the urban transport system. With the increase in the number of vehicles on the roads in the last few years, traffic jams and congestion have become common in many metro cities including Delhi.

In such a situation, electric VTOL aircraft can be one of the best options. This service can be fast, quiet, and environmentally friendly for passengers.

The experts say Tyagi further says, ‘DGCA aims to start air taxis in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru by 2026.

After this, there is a plan to expand to Chennai and Hyderabad. However, initially, the cost of those availing of air taxi services will be much higher than the cost of road transport.

DGCA issued a guideline in this regard a few days ago so that air taxis can take off and land safely without any interruption. According to Tyagi, ‘This service will also depend on last mile connectivity and cost.

If the pick-up and drop-off points are at a considerable distance from the final destination of the passengers, then despite being good and convenient, it will not become the first choice of passengers.

If its fare is higher than other modes of transport, then only people with high income will be able to use it.
