Xiaomi small electric car: China is rapidly expanding its presence in the electric vehicle sector. The company has developed battery-related technology that can be charged instantly to increase the range. Last year, Chinese brand Bestune Xiaomi launched a small electric car.
With this vehicle, the company hopes to increase its share in the ultra-compact electric vehicle segment. FAW Bestune Shaoma will compete directly with Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.
The demand for micro-electric vehicles is highest in China. Bestune Shaoma is priced between 30,000 to 50,000 yuan (about Rs 3.47 million to 5.78 million). It is expected to be launched in the Indian market soon. Direct competitors are Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
FAW introduced Bestune Shaoma at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023. Both hardtop and convertible variants were offered. Currently one type of hardtop is being sold, it is not clear if there will be a convertible version in the future.
The car is also equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen. The dashboard has an attractive design with two colors. The Shaoma has a two-color color scheme that comes straight from the cartoon. It has large square headlights with rounded corners for a more attractive look. The Shaoma uses aerodynamic wheels that help increase the range.
The Bestune Shaoma is based on the FME platform. These include an electric vehicle chassis and a range extender. An electric car called NAT was previously built on this platform.
platforms: A1 and A2. The A1 sub-platform can accommodate small cars and compact cars with a wheelbase of 2700 to 2850 mm.
A2 is used for cars with a distance between two axles of 2700-3000 mm. The range is over 800 km with the electric drive and over 1200 km with the extender. Both platforms support 800V architecture.
