Zero FXE Electric Motorcycle: It’s been over a year since Hero MotoCorp announced its partnership with US-based electric bike maker Zero Motorcycles to manufacture electric motorcycles in India. Now, in 2024, we have the first hint about this partnership, with the first spy shot of the Zero FXE electric motorcycle seen during testing on public roads in Bengaluru.

the point is very hard to explain. But it is clear that product development and testing the waters of the Indian market is clearly underway to have a definitive product strategy for Zero Motorcycles in India.

What is the Zero FXE?

The Zero FXE is a supermoto-styled electric street bike has a 7.2 kWh battery powering an air cooling electric motor with a belt final drive. It has no gears, and uses Showa suspension at the front and rear. The motor has an output of 34 kW (about 46 bhp) and a robust 106 Nm of torque. The bike weight is 135 kg, and has a top speed of 136 km per hour and it has a range of 161 km in the city, and almost half of that on the highway.

Zero Motorcycles – Hero MotoCorp Partnership

Zero is a California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer whose product line-up includes electric dirt bikes, electric adventure bikes, and electric street bikes. It is one of the well-known electric bike brands in the US, founded in 2006.

The company also manufactures a range of electric motorcycle products for use by law enforcement agencies, including the police and the military. Zero’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is clearly aimed at the brand’s global strategic expansion.

For Hero, this partnership provides the much-needed access to Zero’s EV potential, and for Zero it provides access to the world’s largest motorcycle market. Hero’s partnership with Zero aims to utilize Zero’s expertise in developing electric powertrains, while Hero’s manufacturing, sourcing and marketing facilities will be used for a new range of EV products.
