Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo: Hyundai Motor India Limited today launched a new CNG variant of its cheapest and most popular micro SUV EXTER. The company has named this new variant as Exter High-CNG Duo (H-CNG Duo).

Hyundai India is close to touching the figure of 1 lakh sales of Exter micro SUV in less than a year, as the Korean brand has sold more than 93,000 units in India. This SUV is very popular in its price segment and now after the new dual-cylinder technology, its competition with Punch will be even tougher.

Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo 2 cylinder technology

Talking about 2 cylinder technology, then this technology was first introduced by Tata Motors. The most special thing about this technology is that it uses two small CNG cylinders. This provides enough space in the boot space (diggi) inside the car. Usually, conventional CNG cars have a larger cylinder, due to which one has to compromise on boot space. Hyundai has provided two 30-litre CNG cylinders in its EXTER CNG.

Talking about Features, then the Exter High-CNG Duo gets features like automatic climate control, sunroof, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps and taillamps, 15-inch alloy wheels. As safety features, it includes 6 airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, ESC, hill-start assist etc.

Talking about engine, then It has a 1.2 liter petrol engine which generates 68 bhp and 95.2 Nm of torque in CNG mode. At the same time, in petrol mode, this engine generates 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The company has introduced the CNG variant only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo Price

Talking about price, then The company has introduced Exter Hy-CNG Duo in a total of three variants. Which includes S, SX and SX Knight. The starting price of this micro SUV is Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Exter CNG is available only in mid-spec variants and competes directly with Tata Motors’ Punch CNG in the market, which has twin-cylinder technology. Let us tell you that the price of Punch CNG starts from Rs 7.23 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.85 lakh.
