Hyundai cars have always received tremendous response in the Indian market. The brand is known for its affordable price, great features and strong performance. But some surprising figures have come out in the February 2025 sales report. This month Hyundai sold a total of 47,727 units, which is 4.93% less than the 50,201 units sold in February 2024 last year.

Hyundai’s sales have declined not only on an annual but also on a monthly basis. In January 2025, the company sold 54,003 units, while in February this figure reached only 47,727. That is, Hyundai’s sales declined by 11.62% in February as compared to January. However, the company’s export figures increased and Hyundai exported 11,000 units in February 2025, which is 6.80% more than 10,300 units last year.

Huge demand for Hyundai SUV cars

The overall sales figures saw a decline, but the demand for Hyundai SUV cars remained stable. Vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Xter remain the first choice of customers. Especially Hyundai Creta, which has been the company’s best-selling car for the last few months.

Seeing the popularity of Creta, Hyundai also introduced its electric variant at the India Mobility Global Expo held in Delhi in January 2025. In January 2025, the sales figure of this car crossed 18,000 units, making it the best-selling SUV in this segment.

What could be the reason for the decline in sales of Hyundai cars

There may be some possible reasons behind the decline in Hyundai sales in February 2025. The first reason is the increasing competition in the market. Companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki are also constantly launching new and attractive cars, making more options available to the customers.

The second reason can be the increasing popularity of electric vehicles. Many customers are now turning to electric cars instead of petrol and diesel cars, which is affecting the sales of conventional cars. However, Hyundai has introduced the electric variant of Creta in view of this changing trend, which may increase its sales in future.

The third reason can also be the effect of interest rates and economic situation. Due to expensive loans and high interest rates, many people are avoiding buying new cars, which is putting pressure on the automobile sector.

Hyundai prices and variants
