Hyundai Tucson Becomes Second HMIL Vehicle to Score 5 Stars in Safety Test, Know Price

Hyundai’s 5-seater Tucson has joined the list of the safest cars in the country. In fact, this SUV has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the India NCAP crash test. Tucson has become the second vehicle in HMIL’s portfolio to score 5-stars after Hyundai Venue got 5-stars in Global NCAP’s crash test.

The Hyundai Tucson tested by India NCAP was a 2.0-liter petrol AT Signature model, a 2-row 5-seater SUV with a curb weight of 1828Kg. This SUV got 5-star scores for both adult and child.

The tested model of Hyundai Tucson included front, side and curtain airbags for safety as well as 3-point seatbelts for all passengers with seatbelt reminder. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters were also part of the standard safety kit. Tucson also has ISOFIX child seat mounts on outboard seats for child seat installation.

Hyundai Tucson’s performance in India NCAP

In the safety test conducted by India NCAP, Hyundai Tucson scored 30.84 points out of 32 points for adult passenger safety. Tucson has been get 14.84 points out of the 16 for the frontal offset deformable barrier test and the 16 out of 16 points for the side movable the deformable barrier test. Thus, with 30.84 points, Tucson scored 5 stars in adult passenger safety.

On the other hand, in terms of child occupant protection, India NCAP gives a total of 49 points. Hyundai Tucson scored 42 out of 49 points in this and 5 stars in child occupant protection. Tucson scored 24 out of 24 points in dynamic score, 12 out of 12 points in CRS installation score and 5 out of 13 points in vehicle assessment score.

Hyundai Tucson Engine and Performance

The starting ex-showroom price of the Hyundai Tucson in the regional Indian market is Rs 29.02 lakh amount. At the same time, its ex-showroom price for the top model goes up to Rs 35.94 lakh. It can be purchased in two trim levels, which include Platinum and Signature. It has two powertrain options.

The first is a 2.0 liter petrol and the second is a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The 2.0 liter petrol generates a maximum power of 154 bhp and a maximum torque of 192 nm. It is totally mated to the 6-speed fully automatic gearbox system.

On the other side, the 2.0 liter diesel engine will also generate the 184 bhp of power and the 416 nm of torque, which is mated to the 8-speed fully automatic gearbox system.
