Kawasaki has introduced its latest KLX 230 dual-sport motorcycle to the Indian market, with a starting price of Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This model is recognized as the brand’s smallest road-legal dual-sport motorcycle. Let’s explore the features of this bike. The Kawasaki KLX 230 boasts a sleek and robust design, featuring a hexagonal headlight complemented by a plastic cowl.
Its long front fender enhances its off-road capabilities, while the slim seat and elevated exhaust add to its sporty appeal. Notable features include a digital LCD display and switchable dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle is equipped with a reliable braking system, featuring disc brakes at both the front and rear. It rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, fitted with road-oriented tyres suitable for both off-road and on-road conditions.
While some think this is a Yamaha, we are certain that this testing motorcycle is a Kawasaki. Infact, this is the KLX 230 S.
Currently, Kawasaki India offers the KLX 230R S in the market, which isn’t road-legal and is meant for the dirt side of things only.

Engine power and specifications
Powering the KLX 230 is a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 18.1bhp and 18.3Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The long-travel front telescopic forks and rear monoshock suspension contribute to its exceptional handling. Priced at Rs. 3.30 lakh, the KLX 230 occupies a premium segment in the market, competing with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, which is priced at half that of the KLX 230. In contrast, the Hero Xpulse Dakar edition offers a more budget-friendly option with additional advanced features.
