In January this year, Kia Motors launched the new Sonet in the market, and in just 11 months, this car has crossed the 1 lakh sales mark. This is a big achievement. The starting price of this car is Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). That is, if seen, the company has sold an average of 10,000 Sonet every month. There is a lot of demand for the petrol variant of the Sonet, while the demand for vehicles with sunroof has also been high.
Kia Sonet’s petrol model sold well
The new Kia Sonet has 22 different variants, of which 6 different powertrain options have been given. 76% of the customers preferred the petrol model while 24% of the customers chose the diesel Sonet.
Variants with automatic and intelligent manual transmission (iMT) accounted for 34% of the total sales. Apart from this, there is also a good demand for the sunroof variants of the Sonet. 79% of the total sales had a sunroof.
The design of Kia Sonet does not impress at all, because there is no novelty in it. Sculpted body lines and flared wheel arches are given on its side. Connected LED taillights are available in the rear which spoils its design.
The length of the Kia Sonet is 3,995 mm, width 1,790 mm, height 1,610 mm, and wheelbase 2,500 mm. For safety, it has 15 standard safety features, 10 Advanced Driver Assistance System Level 1 features, and more than 70 connected car features.
Apart from this, 3 engine options are available in a Sonet. It includes a 1.2-litre petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Its 1.2-litre NA petrol comes with a 5-speed manual, 1.0-litre petrol with IMT or DCT, and 1.5-turbo diesel with a 6-speed manual or torque converter AT.
The interior of Kia Sonet is based on an all-black theme. Along with this, it also gets safety features like a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, cruise control, air purifier, 6 airbags, and front and rear parking sensors.
