New Delhi: Mahindra has officially launched deliveries of its highly anticipated born-electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, in India. These electric vehicles (EVs) have generated immense interest, securing 30,179 bookings worth ₹8,472 crore, according to HT Auto.
XEV 9e Leads in Popularity
Among the two models, the XEV 9e has emerged as the more preferred choice, accounting for 56% of the reservations, while the BE 6 holds a 44% share. Both models promise cutting-edge features, powerful performance, and a long driving range, making them attractive options in the growing EV segment.
Impressive Battery Options and Range
Mahindra offers the BE 6 with two battery options: a 59 kWh variant delivering a driving range of up to 535 km and a larger 79 kWh variant extending the range to 682 km. Meanwhile, the XEV 9e achieves a range of 542 km with its smaller battery and 656 km with the larger one.
Both models support DC fast charging, enabling a 20% to 80% charge in just 20 minutes, thanks to their 175 kW maximum charging capacity. This fast-charging capability ensures convenience for EV users, addressing one of the major concerns about electric mobility.
Powerful Performance and Driving Features
The BE 6 and XEV 9e are engineered for strong performance. The 59 kWh battery variant delivers a peak power output of 230 bhp, while the 79 kWh version increases power to 285 bhp. Torque remains steady at 380 Nm across both models. These SUVs are currently available with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup.
Drivers can choose from three driving modes—Range, Everyday, and Race—along with a Boost mode for enhanced acceleration and a One-Pedal drive mode for added convenience. These features ensure a dynamic driving experience tailored to different needs.
Competitive Pricing and Market Impact
Mahindra has priced the BE 6 between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹26.90 lakh, while the XEV 9e ranges from ₹21.90 lakh to ₹30.50 lakh (ex-showroom). With competitive pricing and top-notch specifications, these models are set to make a strong impact on India’s expanding EV market.
With robust demand and promising features, Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e are well-positioned to strengthen the company’s foothold in the electric vehicle segment.
