Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: There was a period when Maruti Suzuki vehicles faced criticism regarding their safety standards. However, the brand has recently made significant advancements in enhancing the safety of its cars. Last year, the Maruti Dzire became the first model from the company to achieve a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. In February of this year, the introduction of 6 airbags as standard equipment in the Celerio and Brezza marked a notable improvement, and this initiative has now extended to India’s most affordable vehicle, the Alto K10.

The Alto K10 has also been equipped with 3-point seat belts for rear passengers. Existing safety features include an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), reverse parking sensors, ABS with EBD, a collapsible steering column, rear door child locks, an engine immobilizer, high-speed alerts, and seat belt pre-tensioners with force limiters. These new safety enhancements may positively influence the Alto K10’s NCAP crash test rating.

In the 2023 Global NCAP assessment, the Alto K10 received a 2-star rating for adult safety and a 0-star rating for child safety. In India, the NCAP rating has increasingly become a crucial factor in consumers’ car purchasing decisions.

To date, over 4.6 million units of the Alto K10 have been sold, with 11,352 units sold in January 2025, accounting for 6.54% of the company’s total sales. With the recent safety upgrades, this vehicle is poised to become an even more appealing choice for customers.
