Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater: The country’s largest carmaker is set to add two larger models to its SUV lineup this year. Taking advantage of the popular Vitara number plate, the company will introduce its first electric SUV called e Vitara this month. After that, the Grand Vitara 7-Seater, codenamed Y17, will also enter the Indian market.
Possible design and dimensions
If the size of the upcoming Grand Vitara is removed, its design is likely to remain similar to the current model. The wheelbase will be extended to fit the third row inside the vehicle, while the design and features are expected to be presented with slight improvements. The road presence of this 7-seater coming with hybrid technology is also going to be better.
A light idea of the design can be made from the recently revealed spy shots. It is expected to get 17-inch alloy wheels, large doors for easy entry to the third row, and a slim tail lamp design at the rear to keep fuel efficiency better. In the Indian market, this SUV will compete with other vehicles in the segment like XUV 700 and Alcazar.
Possible interior and features
A slight glimpse of the cabin has been revealed in the spy shots. This 7-seater hybrid SUV codenamed Y17 will be more advanced than its donor. It can get features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch Smart Play Pro + HD unit, and captain seats at the rear with a panoramic sunroof.
Engine and performance
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will likely get the same engine option as the current model. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine is paired with a mild hybrid unit and a strong hybrid unit. At the same time, the strong hybrid powertrain is capable of producing 113 bhp and 122 Nm.
Let us tell you that the current model has safety features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital driver display, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seat, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 6 airbags including the head-up display, and 360-degree camera. Its starting price is Rs 10.99 lakh ex-showroom, which goes up to Rs 20.09 lakh ex-showroom for the top-spec variant.
