Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: One of India’s oldest and most popular cars has been recalled due to a faulty gearbox. The carmaker said in a statement that it has recalled 2,550 hatchbacks and advised owners not to drive their vehicles until the service centre fixes the problem. This is the carmaker’s third recall this year. This comes after Maruti recalled around 15,000 units of its Baleno and WagonR models and around 87,600 units of its S-Presso and Eeco models last month.

Maruti Suzuki has issued a statement saying that the steering used in the Alto K10 is faulty and could cause problems while driving. Maruti Suzuki did not disclose the year of manufacture of the affected vehicles. However, the company said that the carmaker’s authorised dealership will contact the affected dealerships and if necessary, inspect and replace the factory.

Maruti Suzuki said that the Alto K10 with the steering fault will be inspected and repaired by the service centre. We are not charging any fee from our customers for this. As a precautionary measure, users of the affected vehicles are advised not to drive or operate the vehicle until the product is replaced,” the vehicle manufacturer said in a statement.

Engine power and mileage

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is powered by a 1.0-litre K-series dual-nozzle, dual-VVT engine. It is available in manual and automatic transmission (AGS) transmissions. The Alto K10 is one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the Indian market. The company claims that the car can deliver up to 24.90 miles per litre.

Design and Price

Suzuki launched the Alto K10 at a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh. The Alto K10 is available in 9 variants including a CNG variant of the hatchback and is priced at Rs 5.96 lakh. The new generation Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 comes with some changes over the previous model. Based on the fifth generation Heartect platform, the hatchback has a new design with a new grille, headlamps and tail lamp units. The Alto K10 is available in 6 different exterior colours.
