Maruti Brezza currently holds the title of the best-selling compact SUV in India, with over 17,000 units sold last month. It features a 1.5L petrol engine, and its ex-showroom price in Delhi begins at Rs 8.34 lakh. However, there is promising news for potential buyers.
Brezza to be more budget-friendly!
According to media reports and several claims, the company plans to make the Brezza more budget-friendly, potentially by modifying its engine. Last year, Maruti Suzuki introduced the new Swift and Dzire, both equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, which could also be utilized in the Brezza. The current 1.5-liter petrol engine contributes to a higher price range of Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 13.98 lakh. By incorporating the smaller 1.2-liter engine, the Brezza’s price could see a significant reduction.
Features of new engine
This new engine is expected to deliver improved mileage while maintaining power, with an anticipated ex-showroom price of around Rs 7.49 lakh and a mileage of 22-23 kmpl. Consequently, the updated Brezza may pose a competitive challenge to models like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon. In addition to the smaller engine, the new Brezza will not compromise on safety features, boasting six airbags, an anti-lock braking system with EBD, a 360-degree surround view camera, a blind view mirror, an electronic parking brake, and auto hold functionality.
More safety features
There are also indications that the new model may include ADAS level 2 safety features. Furthermore, to enhance its market presence, Maruti Suzuki is reportedly developing a new turbo petrol engine with hybrid technology, which may soon feature the 1.2-liter Z12 E petrol engine with a turbo kit in its vehicles.
