The country’s largest vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is preparing to bring the electric version of its popular hatchback car WagonR. A few weeks ago, pictures of this electric car based on WagonR were leaked on the Internet. This car has been seen many times during testing.
This electric hatchback has been spotted once again, but a special change was seen in it. Last time the testing model of this electric car had a Toyota badge, which led to speculation that it could become a part of Toyota’s lineup. But in the latest pictures of this car, WagonR Electric is seen with the Maruti Suzuki logo.
According to media reports, Maruti Suzuki is not ready to include a fully electric car in its lineup soon. Instead, the Indian carmaker is currently focusing on models with CNG and hybrid engines. However, the new pictures of this electric car have put an end to the rumours that it will be launched with Toyota’s badging.
However, Maruti Suzuki has not revealed the launch details of its electric WagonR car. But it is expected to be launched in the Indian market soon. Maruti Suzuki WagonR EV has been testing in the country for a long time. Earlier, this car was seen during testing on the roads of Gurugram, Haryana last year. Maruti Suzuki introduced 50 JDM-spec prototypes in the country last year.
Which are undergoing testing in different conditions. According to earlier reports, Maruti Suzuki has said that this electric hatchback car will initially be launched for commercial use and fleet management (cab service). This will help the automaker to collect more data from cars running more regularly and improve their car. After which the company will launch this electric car for personal use.
Battery and driving range
However, according to the report, the WagonR EV can cover a distance of more than 200 km on a single full battery charge. With this driving range, it can become an excellent city electric car for personal and commercial use in the country.
It is expected to take 7 hours to fully charge the battery of this hatchback car through a standard charger. Whereas the battery is expected to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in one hour with a fast charger.
Launching and price
However, Maruti has not made any official disclosure regarding the launch date of this electric car. However, according to media reports, WagonR EV can be launched in the Indian market in next year. Maruti cars dominate the domestic market, so its price will be kept to a minimum. The price of the WagonR EV is expected to start from Rs 9 lakh.
