MG Windsor EV: MG Motor India has launched its much-awaited mass-market electric car-Windsor. MG claims that it is the country’s first MPV, in MG’s words a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle)
which offers SUV-like power and sedan-like comfort. Built on a ‘pure EV platform’, Windsor is priced starting at ₹ 9.99 lakh and will come with BaaS (battery as a service).
Although the company has kept its starting price at ₹ 9.99 lakh, the buyer will have to pay ₹ 3.5 per km for the battery. The company is trying to bring the price of this vehicle at par with petrol SUVs in this unique way.
Free charging and buyback scheme
The company is giving a lifetime battery warranty to the first owner of MG Windsor. Also, it comes with one year of free charging with the eHUB by MG app.
MG Motor India is also offering a 3-60 buyback scheme for the Windsor which ensures 60% of its value after 3 years/45,000 km. That is, if the owner of the car wants to sell it after 3 years, he will definitely get 60% of the price.
Charging options
MG Motor is offering multiple charging options with the Windsor EV. This includes a 3.3 kW CCS2 connection, which will take 13.8 hours to recharge the battery. Other charging options are 7.4 kW and 50 kW, which will take 6.5 hours and 55 minutes respectively.
The battery provided in the Windsor EV can be charged with a 45 kW DC fast charger. The MG Windsor EV is powered by a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells, which drives a single electric motor mounted on the front axle.
The motor produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. It will offer a range of around 331 km on a single charge. There are four drive modes available: Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport.
