Most hybrid cars: To promote the sale of environment-friendly hybrid vehicles, the Uttar Pradesh government has reportedly completely waived the registration fee on such cars. The move could benefit companies like Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Honda Cars India, which offer hybrid vehicles.
What is a hybrid car?
Both HEV and PHEV use an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The main difference between HEV and PHEV is that PHEV has a larger battery, which has to be charged using an external power source.
These are the cars of these companies
Hybrid
Maruti offers HEV technology in the Grand Vitara SUV and Invicto MPV. At the same time, Toyota offers it in the Urban Cruiser Hyrider SUV and Innova Hycross MPV. Honda offers it in the City e:HEV sedan.
There will be savings of lakhs
With the UP government waiving off registration fees on HEVs, buyers in the state can save over Rs 3 lakh on the Maruti Suzuki Invicto and Toyota Innova Hycross and Rs 2 lakh on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Honda City e: HEV.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider use the same hybrid powertrain. It has a 1.5-litre petrol engine (92PS/122Nm) and an electric motor (80PS/141Nm). The maximum power output for the hybrid system is 116PS. An e-CVT is available for transmission.
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is a badge-engineered version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. Their hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to an e-CVT. While the total system power is rated at 186PS, the engine power is 152PS, and the motor power is 113PS. The engine torque is 188Nm, and the motor torque is 206Nm.
The Honda City e: HEV is powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol unit (98PS and 127Nm). There are two electric motors with a total system output of 126PS. The car uses an e-CVT.
