Tata Motors’ sales figures for February 2025 in domestic and international markets have come out. This month the company sold a total of 79,344 vehicles, while in February 2024 this figure was 86,406 units. According to this, there has been a decline of about 9% in sales year-on-year. If we talk only about passenger vehicles, Tata Motors sold 46,811 cars in February 2025, which also includes EVs. Whereas in February last year, 51,321 units were sold. This figure clearly shows that this time the company has also faced a decline of 9% in the passenger car segment.

Why do sales fall in the first quarter of the year

If we talk about the automobile industry, the first quarter (Q1) of every year is usually difficult for companies. Car sales decline between January and March, the biggest reason for which is the huge discounts given at the end of the year. Many customers find it more beneficial to buy a car towards the end of the year, because then companies give bumper offers and discounts. In such a situation, sales slow down at the beginning of the new year. The same has happened with Tata Motors, and due to this, its figures in February 2025 were weaker than last year.

Tata Best Selling Cars

Although sales have declined, some vehicles still remain in the list of top selling cars. Tata Motors’ best-selling models include:

  • Tata Punch (strong SUV look and affordable price)
  • Tata Nexon (best-selling SUV, strong safety features)
  • Tata Curvv (upcoming coupe-style SUV)
  • Tata Tiago, Tigor, Altroz (popular cars in the budget segment)
  • Tata Harrier and Safari (strong hold in the premium SUV segment)

These vehicles of Tata Motors have created their own identity in the market, which has been supporting the overall sales of the company.

Tata Upcoming Cars

Even though sales have declined, Tata Motors is preparing to strengthen its hold in the market through new cars. The company’s upcoming launches include:

  • Tata Harrier EV – Tata’s powerful electric SUV, which will give long range on full charge.
  • Tata Sierra – The iconic car of the 90s may return in electric and ICE variants.

With these launches, the company will try to strengthen its hold in the electric vehicle segment.
