Tata Sumo, which ruled the Indian roads for a long time, is once again in the headlines. Tata Motors can introduce a new SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo to be held in January 2025, which may be the new avatar of Tata Sumo. If this happens, then Tata’s upcoming SUV can give a tough challenge to Mahindra Scorpio and XUV700.
Waiting for the new Tata Sumo
India Mobility Global Expo 2025 will start on January 17. Tata Motors will introduce new models in it. These may also include the new Sumo. The new SUV can come with a modern design and features, which will make it capable of giving tough competition to Mahindra Scorpio and XUV700.
There will be a direct competition with Mahindra
Mahindra Scorpio and XUV700 have maintained a good dominance in the SUV segment. Tata Motors can bring back its new SUV in this segment. After Tata Harrier and Safari, the new avatar of Tata Sumo can prove to be a game-changer for the company.
However, Tata Motors has not officially confirmed anything about the new Tata Sumo. It is also not clear whether the new Sumo will be introduced at the India Mobility Global Expo or not. We will get the answer to its arrival or not only in January 2025.
The Journey of Tata Sumo
Tata Motors launched the Tata Sumo in the Indian market in 1994. This powerful SUV ruled the Indian roads for almost 25 years. Due to its strong design and strong performance, this car was very popular in rural and urban areas.
However, it was not possible for this car to meet the safety standards required under the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) implemented on 1 October 2019. It was difficult to upgrade it, due to which Tata Motors decided to discontinue it in 2019.
Tata Sumo Price
When Tata Sumo said goodbye to the market in 2019, its price was between Rs 7.39 lakh and Rs 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom). Due to its price and strength, this SUV remained a reliable option for Indian families and commercial use.
