Flex Fuel: CNG has emerged as a preferable fuel alternative in light of the rising costs of petrol and diesel. Nevertheless, the prices of CNG are also experiencing significant increases, and many consumers in the Indian market find themselves unable to afford electric vehicles. Consequently, there is a growing demand for technology that offers a more economical fuel solution. In response to this challenge, several automotive manufacturers have initiated appropriate measures. At the Auto Expo 2025, companies such as Tata Motors, Hyundai, and Mahindra unveiled flex fuel vehicles capable of operating on both petrol and ethanol. TATA Punch Flex Fuel

Tata Motors showcased the Punch with Flex Fuel at this year’s Auto Expo. This SUV, recognized for its affordability and 5-star safety rating, will soon be able to run on 100% ethanol. The Punch Flex Fuel, designed to operate on E100, represents an environmentally friendly option. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 86 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The vehicle is available in a dual-tone white and green color scheme, featuring Flex Fuel badging on the side, while the interiors and features remain consistent with the standard Punch model.

Mahindra XUV 3XO Flex Fuel

Mahindra’s XUV 3XO Flex Fuel retains the design of the standard version, adorned with the Flex Fuel badge. This model is equipped with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 110 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. It is capable of operating with an ethanol blend ranging from 20% to 85%.

Hyundai Creta Flex Fuel

Hyundai introduced the flex fuel variant of the Creta at the Auto Expo, featuring a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine. This powertrain produces a maximum output of 118 bhp and a peak torque of 172 Nm. It is versatile enough to run on either 100% petrol or 100% ethanol, and it also carries the Flex Fuel badge.
