The demand for SUVs is indeed increasing rapidly in the automobile sector of the country. More SUVs are seen in the top-5 list than hatchbacks and sedans. Even after this, many updates are constantly seen in the sedan segment of the country. Especially the sedans which dominate the Indian market have seen major updates in 2024. 5 new sedans have been launched in the Indian market this year. This includes the country’s number-1 Maruti Dzire to the New Gen Honda Amaze and Toyota Camry.
New Maruti Dzire
The Maruti Dzire got a new generation update earlier this year and is unlike the previous three generations. Now it has moved away from the design of the Swift. Instead, it has developed its own visual identity. Inside it is the same as always, its design is similar to Swift, but it has been given many feature lists to give it premium status over the hatchback.
New Honda Amaze
The 3rd Gen Honda Amaze was launched in early December. The car gets design as well as feature updates. As expected, it moves closer to the design of the Honda City. It has a single 1.2-litre petrol engine. You can buy dealer-level CNG fitment.
BYD Seal
BYD entered the premium game earlier this year with the launch of the Seal sedan. It has all the features of the Atto 3 but outputs 308bhp and 360Nm of torque, available in both RWD and AWD. The Atto 3 and eMAX7 are BYD’s volume models but this is a showcase of its technological prowess and ability to stretch budgets to premium strata.
Toyota Camry
The 9th Gen Toyota Camry made its India debut in late CY2024. It brought with it a new design, an updated feature list, and a hybrid-only offering like the previous-gen cars. However, Toyota decided to go full luxury and offer it as a fully loaded model, with all the features exclusive to the Camry range.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The new Mercedes E-Class is longer, wider, and more powerful than the car it replaces. It gets an improved rear-seat package and a list of features. It can be bought in both petrol and diesel engine options. Due to its size, India is the only RHD market where the E-Class is available in LWB form.
