Toyota Hilux FCEV: All the brands of the country and the world have participated in Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. In this episode, Toyota’s pavilion inside Auto Expo 2025 was filled with vehicles running on diesel engines, EVs, and fuel cells. In this article, we have brought you the details of the Toyota Hilux FCEV.

Design and specification of Toyota Hilux FCEV

Many changes have been made to further improve the off-road capability of the Hilux FCEV introduced at Auto Expo 2025. To strengthen this powerful pick-up truck, a sleek, closed-off grille in body color has been given along with Goodrich tires and underbody shield. These changes will further improve the road presence of Hilux.

Talking about other changes, the Toyota Hilux FCEV has FCEV badging on the driver’s side door and a related badge with FCEV and polygonal decals at the rear. Apart from this, this fuel cell concept of Hilux has a silver color at the front and a vibrant blue color at the rear.

Engine and Performance

To convert Hilux to hydrogen power, its traditional 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine has been replaced with the fuel cell stack of Toyota Mirai. It has been given 3 large and high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks.

With the help of these, it is capable of giving a range of 590 kilometers. A battery has also been placed in the truckload bay to store the power produced by the fuel cell.

The motor given in the showcased Toyota Hilux FCEV sends power to the rear wheels. Due to this, the efficiency of the vehicle will increase as well as the performance will also be good. Apart from this, the Hilux FCEV also gets a regenerative braking feature as an option with pedal driving. Let us tell you that this is only a prototype. No official information has come yet regarding its launch.
