The Curve is a coupe-style SUV that attracts people’s attention. It looks like a proper European car. It is based on the Nexon. Tata Motors introduced the production-spec version of the Curve at the 2024 India Mobility Show. The Curve is likely to be 4,308 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,630 mm in height and have a 2,560 mm long wheelbase, along with a boot space of 422 liters. Which is 313 mm longer, 6 mm wider, 10 mm higher and its wheelbase is 62 mm longer than Nexon.

What was seen in the testing mules?

When Curve and Nexon stand together, the extra size is clearly visible. At the rear, where there is a coupe style sloping roof. More muscular profiling can be seen on the doors of Curve with new flush-mounted door handles. While these test mules of Nexon are of the i-CNG variant, which was also introduced at the 2024 India Mobility Expo.

This test of Curve does not have a regular panoramic sunroof. It is similar to the fixed glass roof on the Curve EV concept and Curve ICE patent image. However, the ICE Curve introduced at the 2024 India Mobility Expo had a dual-panel openable sunroof. That is, Tata can give the option of choosing a fixed glass roof or a traditional sunroof.

The Nexon i-CNG test mule seen in the spy shots will get a twin-cylinder CNG kit manufactured by Tata. This is a unique system in the Indian CNG car segment that offers an attractive CNG setup with a flat and useful boot. It will get features like CNG start, seamless switch and many more. The Nexon i-CNG will be the first turbo petrol-CNG combo in India.

Interior and Features

The Curve will share its dashboard and the entire interior layout and door trims with the Nexon. It will also borrow a lot of elements from more premium vehicles like the Harrier and Safari, including a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, chunkier 4-spoke steering wheel, electronic parking brake, dual zone climate control and HUD.

Powertrain

In terms of powertrain, the Curve will be launched with EV and diesel engine options first and is likely to get a petrol option later. We expect the Curve EV to get single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD setups. The 1.5L diesel engine is the same as the Nexon (113 bhp and 260 Nm) and the petrol engine will be available in the Nexon but in a more powerful tune in the curve.
