Chinese tech company Xiaomi has unveiled its first electric YU7 SUV. According to the information, the company can launch this car in China in June or July next year. This electric car will compete directly with the Tesla Model Y sold in the Chinese market.
Xiaomi has no plans to launch this electric car in the Indian market right now. According to the report, the Chief Marketing Officer of Xiaomi India said that this is not an easy business. The company’s initial focus will be on the Chinese market first, only after that it will be launched globally.
Talking about the design of Xiaomi’s YU7 electric SUV, it has wheels of great design, which make its look more stylish. LED taillamps similar to SU7 have been installed in its rear. Xiaomi SU7 is about 5 meters long. It is a premium sedan, while the top-end variant has a dual motor setup. It has a large 101 kWh Qilin battery pack.
As per regulatory filings in China, the YU7 SUV is offered with a dual-motor setup – 299hp (front) and 392hp (rear), which produces a combined output of 691hp. This setup, which is more powerful than the 673hp Max variant of the high-spec SU7, is capable of propelling the 2,405kg (curb weight) SUV to a maximum speed of 253kph. The SU7 Max is around 200kg lighter and reaches a top speed of 265kph.
The car offers a range of around 800 km on a single full charge. With the dual motor setup, the car will generate a max power of 600 bhp. The entry-level RWD variant of the SU7 uses an LFP-chemistry battery.
If a two-wheel-drive version is made available, the same unit could be used in the Xiaomi YU7 as well. When it comes to India, it can compete with BYD Seal. This electric car from Xiaomi has range, and power along with a swoopy design. It is also going to be aero-efficient.
