ICC Champion Trophy 2025: Indian team captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma has achieved a significant feat in ODI International cricket. Rohit Sharma, famously known as Hitman, has become the second fastest batsman to score 11000 runs in ODI International cricket. In this case, he has left behind Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Cricket. However, the number one batsman in this list is Virat Kohli.
THE INDIA CAPTAIN SHOW
As soon as right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma scored the 11th run against Bangladesh in the first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on the Dubai ground, he completed 11000 runs in ODI International cricket. He became the fourth batsman to score 11 thousand or more runs in ODI cricket for India. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly have scored 11 thousand or more runs.
EDGES PASS THE LITTLE MASTER
Rohit Sharma crossed the 11,000 run mark in the 261st innings, Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat in 276 innings, and Virat Kohli scored 11,000 runs in ODI cricket in just 222. Ricky Ponting is at number four on the list. He scored 11,000 runs in ODI cricket in 286 innings. Sourav Ganguly achieved this milestone in 288 innings. Even only Virat Kohli (11831) was successful in scoring 11,000 runs in ODI cricket faster than Rohit (11868). If Rohit Sharma had completed 11,000 runs a few matches earlier, he would have left Virat Kohli behind, but from now on, he has to wait till his last game to see if he will come out at the top
What the future holds for him
Now, let’s discuss what kind of game plan Rohit Sharma should follow for the last stage of his illustrious career, during which the Indian great has achieved increasing success. Those days are coming when the Indian team might lose. Still, it is probably its best opener after the greatest Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, time ODI partner Shikhar Dhawan Alreaed, announced his retirement from all forms of the game. Now it is time for team India to reform the ODI setup, and Rohit Sharma might not be part of the upcoming ODI World.
