Everyone is excited about the impending increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for central employees. It is expected that DA will rise 4% this time, a big gift. The government has already rejected the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, which comes as a significant shock.

Not only that, but the unfulfilled expectations regarding the 18-month DA arrears have also faded. All employees and pensioners are now optimistic about the imminent increase in their DA. The employees’ salary will see a record-breaking increase after this. It is believed that more than one crore families will benefit from this. The central government has not yet officially announced the date for increasing DA, but media reports are talking about the last week of September.

There will be a bumper increase in salary.

By September 30, the Modi government at the center could increase DA by 4%. After this, DA will rise to 54 percent, resulting in a record-breaking salary increase. This will benefit approximately 1 crore employees. However, currently, employees and pensioners benefit from 50 percent DA.

Right now, everyone is eagerly anticipating the increase in the dearness allowance. Its rates will be considered effective from July 1. The Seventh Pay Commission increases DA twice a year. Its rates are considered effective from July 1 and January 1. If we increase the DA rates now, they will become applicable from July 1, 2024. Earlier in March, a decision was taken to increase DA, the rates of which were implemented from January 1, 2024.

The 18-month DA arrears will not be available.

The central government has decided not to pay the outstanding 18-month DA arrears. The government has also given its clarification on DA arrears in the House. Earlier, we expected the government to respond to the long-standing demand, but it refused to release the pending DA arrears, citing the damage to the economy in COVID-19.

Apart from this, the government will also not constitute the 8th Pay Commission. India implements a new pay commission every ten years, and this one was due to form now. The government has no plans to implement it in 2026.
