DA Hike 2025: With the beginning of 2025, central employees can get another good news. If the news is believed, an increase in dearness allowance is possible. The figures of the AICPI index till October 2024 have come out, and based on these, DA can reach up to 56%. According to reports, the government can announce a DA hike of up to 3-4 per cent for central employees today. This increase in DA will be considered effective from January 1, 2025.

If we look at the record of previous years, the government announced the increase in January DA in March. Let us tell you that the government increases DA twice yearly, on January 1 and July 1.

Last year, DA also increased; it was buttered adequate from July 1. The government had increased by three per cent in October. Then, DA had, and then it was 53 per cent. Earlier in March 2024, DA increased by 4per cent. DA and DR are increased twice every year. DA is given to central employees, while DR is given to pensioners. If the government increases DA by 4 per cent, then DA will increase to 57 per cent.

What is the benefit of DA?

DA compensates for inflation. This increases the disposable income of employees. DA implementation on a pension also helps in old age. DA increase has a direct impact on the government treasury.

Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary clarified that the government is not looking at the possibility of releasing the 18 months of DA and DR arrears withheld during the COVID-19 pandemic. New DA will be implemented from January 1, 2025

After the dearness allowance figures come in, they will be implemented on January 1, 2025. However, it will be announced in March. The government announces it around Holi. The dearness allowance is being given at 53 per cent from July 1, 2024.
