8th Pay Commission : There is a big update regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Over 10 million central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting updates about the upcoming 8th Pay Commission. The government revealed plans to establish this commission back in January, but so far, the members of the panel have not been appointed. It’s anticipated that the commission will provide its recommendations for salary and pension adjustments by next year.

Various media sources indicate that the dearness allowance (DA) for employees and pensioners might be combined with the basic salary. In previous pay commissions, the DA was merged with the basic salary before applying the fitment factor. The 8th Pay Commission is likely to adopt a similar approach, although reports suggest that the final amount could be lower if the fitment factor is applied after this merger.

 Salary will Increases this much!

Recently, there was a 2% increase in DA under the 7th Pay Commission, bringing the total DA to 55%. For a government employee at Level 1, the minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000. With the 55% DA added, this totals Rs 27,900. Following the previous pattern, the fitment factor might be applied to Rs 27,900 instead of Rs 18,000. Reports indicate that the new pay commission could recommend a fitment factor ranging from 1.92 to 2.86. Therefore, if a fitment factor of 1.92 is used, the salary would be Rs 53,568.

If it’s set at 2.57 (as it was previously), the salary could rise to Rs 71,703. With a fitment factor of 2.86, the salary might reach Rs 79,794. This means that employees currently earning a basic salary of Rs 18,000 could see their salaries increase to anywhere between Rs 53,000 and Rs 79,000 once the 8th Pay Commission is put into effect.

What’s Happened Since January?

On January 16, the government announced the creation of the 8th Pay Commission, stating that the names of the panel members would be revealed soon. While there hasn’t been any official update regarding the 8th Pay Commission yet, there is a strong belief that it will be established soon.
