8th Pay Commission: Discussions about the 8th Pay Commission have intensified. However, the Central Government has not yet shared any information about the 8th Pay Commission. Central employees hope that the 8th Pay Commission will come soon.

Shiv Gopal Mishra, the General Secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, predicts that the Modi government will announce the Eighth Pay Commission in January 2026, a significant delay.

Let us tell you that for more than a year, the Central Government employees union has been demanding the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Media reports indicate that the government will prepare the draft for the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission by January 1, 2026.

The government has not yet officially shared any information in this regard. The government implemented the Seventh Pay Commission in 2014. Any commission has a 10-year time limit. We now expect the government to begin work on the Eighth Pay Commission before the Seventh Pay Commission’s deadline expires.

General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that he is sure that the salary of central employees will increase in January 2026. Railway workers and other government workers hope the government will act soon. This government decision will alter the salary and pension of more than one crore central government employees and pensioners.

In 2016, the 7th Pay Commission came into effect.
On 28 February 2014, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh constituted the 7th Pay Commission on behalf of the Pay Commission government. On November 19, 2015, the Commission submitted its report to the government, and on January 1, 2016, the government implemented its recommendations.

To determine pension and salary, a fitment factor is required. On the basis of the 2.57 fitment factor, compared to the minimum salary of the sixth pay commission, it increased to Rs 18,000 per month in the seventh pay commission.

As a result, the minimum pension increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 9,000. The maximum salary became Rs 2,50,000, and the maximum pension became Rs 1,25,000. The fitment factor for the eighth pay commission will be considered 1.92, according to reports. However, this has not received official confirmation.
