Exciting news has arrived for millions of EPFO subscribers! In a groundbreaking move, the central government has fully rolled out the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) across all regional EPFO offices in India, completing this initiative by December 2024. By that time, over 6.8 million Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) pensioners have received pensions totaling around Rs 1570 crore.
Now, pensioners can easily withdraw their pensions from any bank branch throughout the country.
Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced that this change will eliminate any difficulties pensioners faced when withdrawing their pensions from any bank or branch nationwide. This means that EPFO pensioners can now access their pensions from any regional EPFO office across the country. The CPPS has been successfully implemented in all 122 regional EPFO offices.
Enhancing EPFO’s services for pensioners
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the government’s dedication to improving EPFO services through the Centralized Pension Payment System, ensuring transparency and convenience for pensioners. The first pilot project of CPPS was successfully launched in October 2024 at the regional offices in Jammu, Karnal, and Srinagar, distributing a total of 11 crore pensions to 49,000 EPS pensioners. Following that, a second pilot program was completed in 24 regional offices, where Rs 213 crore in pensions was disbursed to over 930,000 pensioners.
