Amazon has taken a big decision to embrace Indian education with modern-era computer learning skills. The company announced the launch of its first Amazon Future Engineer Makerspace in Bengaluru. They have a vision to educate over 4,000 students with computer learning skills. Students from 5th grade to class 12 will be part of the program.
The facility will work closely with The Innovation Story, a group of educators. The objective is to provide intensive, practical education to underprivileged students from classes 5 to 12 and equip them with the latest technical skills to become ‘change agents’ of the future. For beginners, there are three to four-hour programs to learn basic robotics and coding.

The six-hour program will cover two days in depth knowledge in advanced robotics, programming, prototyping and design. There are several months of training programs for the most advanced students. ‘Makerspace’ is designed in such a way that students can build and test their robots. To join these programs, students can book online sessions which will have groups of up to 40 participants. Makerspaces feature 3D printers, lathes, power tools, electronics equipment, and kits for international competitions.
Akshay Kashyap, India Lead, Amazon Future Engineer Program said that this facility will provide thousands of young people with the necessary tools, knowledge and guidance to become future innovators. By providing practical knowledge and training in robotics, AI and 3D printing, Amazon will empower the next generation of tech leaders.
Meenal Majumdar, Founder, Innovation Story, said, “As the knowledge partner for the Amazon Future Engineer program, we have curated special sessions for the development of students from underprivileged communities. Our goal is to equip young minds with the skills to excel in tech and AI careers.”
In India, Amazon has partnered with 11 NGOs to roll out computer science education in over 17,000 schools. Amazon has said that in the last three years, Future Engineer has helped more than 2.9 million students and trained 16,000 teachers across the country.
