The Government of India has made the Aadhaar card mandatory for all citizens. It is an important proof of our citizenship. Without an Aadhaar card, people below the poverty line cannot access food grains, facilities, or amenities provided through the ration card. This is because cases of fake ration cards being used to get rations or benefits have increased. To address this, the government has decided to link the Aadhaar card with the ration card. Now, let’s learn how to link the Aadhaar card with the ration card.

How to Link Aadhaar with Ration Card?

  • Visit the Public Distribution System website and log in.
  • Click on the option to link Aadhaar with a ration card.
  • Enter your Aadhaar card number and ration card number.
  • Fill in all the required details.
  • You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP to verify your identity.
  • After successful verification, you will receive a confirmation message.

Once completed, your Aadhaar and ration card will be linked.

Important Things to Check Before Linking Aadhaar

  1. Ensure that all family members’ names are correctly mentioned on the Aadhaar card.
  2. The Aadhaar cards of all individuals listed on the ration card can be linked one by one.
  3. If there are errors in your Aadhaar details, such as incorrect names or spelling mistakes, you can correct them for free on the UIDAI website.
  4. This free correction service was earlier available until December 14, 2024, and has now been extended until June 14, 2025.
