7th pay commission latest: After the central government, now the state governments are also increasing the dearness allowance (DA). In this episode, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also announced an increase in DA. The Chief Minister informed that the Assam government has approved a 2 per cent hike in the Sales Group (DA) for government employees. He said that with this package coming into effect from January 1, the DA for state employees and pensioners will be 55 per cent of the basic salary or pension. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that we will pay DA with the previous month’s salary, while the grade amount will be paid with the April and May salary.

Rajasthan government also took a decision

Earlier, the Rajasthan government has decided to increase the dearness allowance of state employees by two percent. This will benefit 12 lakh 40 thousand employees and pensioners. During the financial year 2025-26, the state employees have been given the gift of a two percent increase in DA. Pensioners will also be entitled to a two percent increase in dearness relief. Now, under the 7th pay scale in the state, dearness allowance or dearness relief will be increased from 53 percent to 55 percent to the state employees and pensioners from January 1, 2025.

Hike for central employees

Earlier in the last week of March, the Cabinet of the Central Government approved a two percent increase in dearness allowance. This decision will come into effect from January 1 this year. This will benefit about 1.15 crore central government employees and pensioners. With the two percent increase, dearness allowance has gone up to 55 percent of basic pay/pension from the existing 53 percent. Its purpose is to provide relief to employees from inflation. The increase in both DA and DR will have an annual impact of Rs 6,614.04 crore on the government treasury. This move will benefit about 48.66 lakh central government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners.
