As per the RBI holiday schedule, banks will be shut in Aizawl and Gangtok on December 31 due to New Year’s Eve/Lossong/Namsung. Regarding the stock market, it is open today. Trading on BSE and NSE will proceed as normal today. In those cities of the state where December 31 is recognized as a public holiday, banks will also stay closed.
As per media reports, various states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal have announced December 31 as a public holiday.
Probable bank holidays in January 2025
The RBI has yet to publish its official bank holiday schedule for January 2025, but banks are anticipated to observe 13 non-working days in that month. It is important to mention that although the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not released its official schedule for 2025, banks nationwide are anticipated to be closed on January 1 to celebrate the new year.
As per the circular from the Reserve Bank of India, banks will have numerous holidays in January 2025. Each year, the RBI publishes the holiday list beforehand. Based on this, several banks across the nation have holidays for 15 days in January. This encompasses public holidays, national celebrations, and local holidays. As a result, bank holidays vary according to the region. In certain regions, banks operate, whereas in others, there are holidays.
