The Modi government is running the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to ensure the safety and health of common citizens. Under this, millions of Indians are getting benefits. Now the government has expanded it. In which it has been talked about giving special facilities to senior citizens.
Expanding AB-PMJAY, the central government has issued special Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards for senior citizens aged 70 years and above. So far, more than 14 lakh cards have been made. That is, now 14 lakh people can get the benefit. Through this, senior citizens are being provided free and cashless treatment irrespective of their socio-economic status. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav informed the Lok Sabha that 1,961 procedures have been included under 27 medical specialties in this scheme.
These diseases will be treated
Advanced treatments such as hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ischemic stroke, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, and cardiac pacemaker are now available for eligible senior citizens. The government has also given flexibility to states to customize the health benefit package as per their local context. As of October 31, 2024, 29,870 hospitals have been listed under this scheme, including 13,173 private hospitals.

The U-WIN digital platform has been launched to ensure timely vaccination of all pregnant women and children (0-16 years). Under the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP), around 2.9 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore infants are vaccinated against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases every year.
The key features of U-WIN include anywhere, anytime vaccination services, automated SMS alerts, QR-based e-vaccination certificates, and offline data entry. After the nationwide rollout, registration of 7.43 crore beneficiaries, 1.26 crore vaccination sessions, and 27.77 crore vaccine doses have been recorded. This initiative is playing a vital role in increasing the reach of health services and improving the lives of citizens.
