Coverage amount doubled: Till now, under this scheme, treatment expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year were borne. But, under the new scheme, this amount will be doubled to Rs 10 lakh.
Increase in the number of beneficiaries: Till now more than 12 crore poor families are getting the benefit of this scheme.
The government is now aiming to double this scope. This means that more than 24 crore families will be able to get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Special provisions for women: The government is making special arrangements for women keeping in mind their health.
Under the scheme, women can be given the facility to bear the annual treatment expenses of up to Rs 15 lakh.
Creating a network of hospitals: Access to hospitals is also very important for the treatment of serious illness.
Keeping this in mind, the government is preparing to add 4 lakh additional private hospital beds to the scheme. This will not require patients to go far for treatment.
