Bad news for thousands of women. The Government of India has launched several initiatives aimed at supporting women, particularly those who are underprivileged. These programs focus on empowering women and improving their circumstances. In addition to the central government, various state governments also have their own schemes for women. For instance, the Jharkhand government has introduced the Maiya Samman Yojana, which provides monthly financial assistance to women.

Under this initiative, women receive Rs 2500 each month, benefiting thousands across the state. However, there has been a recent development where many women have had their names removed from the program.

The Jharkhand government has established specific eligibility criteria for the Maiya Samman Yojana, ensuring that only those who meet these requirements receive assistance. Unfortunately, some women have been receiving benefits despite not qualifying.

As a result, the government has taken steps to address this issue, leading to the removal of 52,293 names from the beneficiary list. These individuals often come from well-off families, with some having relatives in government jobs, yet they were still accessing benefits from the scheme.

The Jharkhand government has identified between 8 to 10 lakh such beneficiaries, and plans to remove all their names from the program, effectively cutting off their financial support.
