Banks to Remain Closed for 8 Days in March 2025

Banks across India will be closed for eight days in March 2025, excluding Sundays and the second Saturday. These holidays vary by state and festival, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Major holidays include Holi, Eid-ul-Fitr, and regional festivals.

  1. March 7 (Friday): Banks are closed in Mizoram for the Chapchar Kut festival.
  2. March 13 (Thursday): Holika Dahan and Pongala – Banks are closed in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and Kerala.
  3. March 14 (Friday): Holi (Dhulandi, Dol Yatra) – A Public holiday in most states except Tripura, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Kerala, and Nagaland.
  4. March 15 (Saturday): Holi is celebrated in some states: Tripura, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Manipur.
  5. March 22 (Saturday): Bihar Day – Banks are closed in Bihar for the state’s formation day.
  6. March 27 (Thursday): Shab-e-Qadr – Banks are closed in Jammu and Kashmir.
  7. March 28 (Friday): Jumatul-Bida – The Last Friday of Ramadan is observed as a holiday in Jammu and Kashmir.
  8. March 31 (Monday): Eid-ul-Fitr – A Public holiday in most states except Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh.
