Be Alert! LIC warns customers against such cyber fraud

LIC Holdera Be Alert: LIC has recently issued an important update regarding the new scams being done by cyber criminals. These criminals ask customers for KYC (Know Your Customer) and policy related information through phone calls or SMS, which is completely fraudulent.

LIC has made it clear that they never ask customers for OTP (One Time Password), password or other personal information through phone calls or SMS. Therefore, customers should beware of these fraud calls.

Apart from this, LIC has also issued guidelines to avoid cyber fraud. Earlier, Shriram Life Insurance had also warned about similar fraud, especially in the name of bonus. Customers are advised not to respond to any suspicious calls or messages and always share their information only through official channels.

LIC said that scammers are trying to dupe policyholders by making calls or SMS promising bonuses and other offers. They ask for information like KYC (Know Your Customer) and policy number. LIC clearly termed these calls and SMS as fake and said that “We never send calls, SMS, WhatsApp or emails for KYC verification. LIC has appealed to the customers not to pay attention to such fake messages and not to share their personal information with any unknown source.

2. Never share your personal or banking details with scammers.

3. Be cautious of phishing emails and links.

4. Keep your personal information safe.

5. Do not fall prey to fraud for any monetary gain.

6. Do not share KYC or policy related information with anyone.

7. Avoid making payments to any personal or account.

8. Register customers on the official website www.licindia.in.

If you face fraud:

1. Report fraudulent calls, WhatsApp messages or emails to spuriouscalls@licindia.com.

2. Report financial fraud on the cyber crime portal or contact the 1930 helpline number.
