Big news for those who have not updated their Aadhaar card yet. The government has suddenly extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar. Yes, you heard it right. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) made a big announcement yesterday. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the last date for updating the Aadhaar card for free from 14 December 2024 to 14 June 2025. If you have to update the name, address or other information in your Aadhaar card, then you can get this work done without any charge.

To change your name on your Aadhaar card online, follow these steps:

Start by heading over to the official UIDAI website.

Next, find the MY Aadhar section, click on “My Aadhaar,” and choose the “Update Your Aadhaar” option.

Now, go to the Aadhaar Self Service Portal (SSUP). You’ll see an option for “Update Demographics Data Online.” Click on that to enter the SSUP.

Log in using your Aadhaar number: Type in your Aadhaar number and complete the captcha. Then hit “Send OTP.” Check your registered mobile for the OTP and enter it to log in.

Now it’s time to update your details: Click on the “Name” option and type in your correct name.

Upload your documents: You’ll need to upload a scanned copy of any supporting documents like your passport, PAN card, or voter ID that are needed for the name change.

Submit your request: Once you’ve uploaded everything, go ahead and submit the form.

Get your URN: After your application is successful, you’ll receive an “Update Request Number (URN)” which you can use to track your update status. Typically, it takes about 5-7 working days for the changes to show up on your Aadhaar card.
