Krishak Bandhu News Update: Finally, there is good news for the farmers of West Bengal. The minimum support price (MSP) of raw jute has been increased. As per the new announcement, the MSP of jute per quintal has been set at INR 5,650 for the financial year 2025-26, which is INR 315 more than the previous year.

This means the MSP has increased by about 6% this time. The Union Cabinet has approved this decision, which will greatly benefit the farmers. Experts believe that this price hike will help increase farmers’ income.

Big Decision for Farmers

On Wednesday, Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced in a press conference that the recent MSP hike will further boost farmers’ profits. He stated that farmers will now earn about 66.8% more profit from paddy cultivation than before.

The support price of paddy and other crops has increased significantly compared to last year. In 2014-15, the MSP per quintal of jute was INR 2,400, whereas for 2025-26, it has been raised to INR 5,650, marking a 2.35-fold increase. This increase will ensure fairer crop prices and improve farmers’ standard of living.
