Kotputli-Baharod DSO Shashi Shekhar Sharma said that due to the presence of ineligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Scheme, eligible persons are not receiving the benefits. Keeping this in mind, the Rajasthan government has given time until February 28 under the ‘Give Up’ campaign, allowing ineligible persons to voluntarily remove their names from the list.
Recovery at ₹27 per Kg for Ineligible Beneficiaries
Thousands of ration card holders in the state have already removed themselves from the scheme. From March 1, the Food Department will take strict action. Those found ineligible will have to return food grains at a rate of ₹27 per kg. The recovery will be calculated from the date their name was added to the list until its removal.
List of Ineligible Beneficiaries After the Campaign
Once the campaign ends, the District Collector will prepare a final list of ineligible beneficiaries. The main goal of this action is to ensure that only the needy get the benefits of the National Food Security Scheme.
Who is Considered Ineligible?
The Food Department has declared the following categories ineligible:
- Families paying income tax
- Families with members working in government, semi-government, or autonomous institutions
- Families with an annual income above ₹1 lakh
- Families owning a four-wheeler (if not used for livelihood)
How to Remove Your Name from the Scheme?
The process for removing a name from the National Food Security Scheme has begun. According to the logistics officer:
- Beneficiaries who want to opt out must visit their fair price shop.
- They need to fill out a prescribed form to request removal.
- The person must declare themselves ineligible and voluntarily withdraw from the scheme.
- The last date to submit the form is February 28, 2025.
