Ration Card: Due to the absence of e-KYC, over 400,000 consumers in Godda are set to encounter challenges in obtaining their rations from Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets. The government provides five kilograms of grain per household each month at no cost to more than 1.2 million consumers in the district.

A total of 272,908 ration cards

A total of 272,908 ration cards have been issued by both the central and state governments, with 1,209,123 consumers receiving rations under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme (JSFSS). To date, only 734,000 cardholders have completed the e-KYC process, leaving 475,000 consumers yet to do so.

The e-pass machine will cease

If e-KYC is not completed by March 31, the ability to collect rations via the e-pass machine will cease on April 1, 2025. A point-by-point review of the supply department’s activities was conducted last Wednesday evening under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Zishan Qamar. During this meeting, a report was presented to the Deputy Commissioner concerning food supply, ration distribution through PDS, e-KYC status of ration cardholders, and other related matters. District Supply Officer Shravan Ram reported that out of the 1.2 million ration cardholders in the district, e-KYC has been completed for 733,492 individuals. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to ensure that all ration cardholders complete their e-KYC by March 31. To facilitate the timely distribution of rations to beneficiaries through PDS shopkeepers, supply department officials are required to conduct reviews at the panchayat level.

How to complete ration card eKYC

Department officials noted that there are several convenient methods available for completing e-KYC. Individuals can visit any government ration shop nationwide for Aadhaar seeding or e-KYC. Additionally, facial e-KYC services are also offered. For those who prefer to complete e-KYC independently, it can be easily done from home by downloading the ‘Mera e-KYC’ or ‘AadhaarFaceRD’ applications.
