Bima Sakhi Yojana: The government is implementing various initiatives aimed at empowering women and fostering self-reliance within the country. Among these initiatives, last year, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) introduced the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana.’ This program is specifically tailored for women who have completed their 10th grade, offering them a valuable opportunity to generate income. Participants in this scheme can earn up to Rs 7,000 monthly, potentially accumulating over Rs 2 lakh within three years. Eligibility for this program requires applicants to be between the ages of 18 and 70.

 

Under the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana,’ women who have passed the 10th grade will receive specialized training to become LIC agents. The government aims to train 200,000 ‘Bima Sakhi’ agents nationwide over the next three years. During the initial three years of training, these women will also receive a stipend. Upon successful completion of their training, they will be qualified to work as LIC agents. Additionally, women with a graduate degree may have the opportunity to become Development Officers at LIC.

Women can earn more than Rs 2 lakh

The stipend structure for the selected women under the ‘Bima Sakhi’ scheme is as follows: Rs 7,000 per month in the first year, Rs 6,000 per month in the second year, and Rs 5,000 per month in the third year. Consequently, over three years, women can earn more than Rs 2 lakh through stipends alone, in addition to potential earnings from commissions.
