Scrapping the vehicle

In such a situation, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has made a big announcement to strictly implement this policy from April 1, 2025. If your vehicle fails the fitness test in Delhi from April 1, then you will have to deposit your vehicle in a registered scrap facility. Under the scrap policy in Delhi, a deposit certificate is given in exchange for a 15 year old vehicle, through which you will get many benefits on buying a new vehicle. After scrapping the vehicle, a certificate will be given to its owner. When the vehicle owner goes to buy a new vehicle, he will have to show that certificate. After showing the scrap certificate of the old vehicle, a subsidy of Rs 50 thousand will be issued to him.

Let us tell you, this policy comes under the National Highways Ministry of the Central Government. It is being strictly implemented to reduce air pollution in Delhi, as diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years are banned from running in Delhi-NCR. But despite this, people are driving such vehicles openly, whereas there is a provision of both confiscation and penalty for not getting them scrapped. This policy is applicable in Delhi from the year 2022.
